Mis-adventures of Lil Miss FunThe story of my chaotic life... 3月27日 Time for an updateSo... since January here are the things that have changed in my life, amused me, or somehow left enough of an impression for me to mention:
I spent a weekend in Jasper with my family-- almost ran out of gas
Jenn had a b-day-- and we partied like it was her birthday
Jon and I broke up-- no one cheated, no one lied and we've stayed friends
I went to the Messier retirement game -- I have a mini banner :) I got another cat-- her name is Madam GypsieI started running-- aiming for 10K
I got attacked by a crazy lady in the laundry room-- it was scary
I jammed my thumb -- it was a lovely shade of blue
I got a new job title-- yae!!
I started going to the Centre for Spiritual Awareness-- I feel aware and spiritual
My new favorite drink at Starbucks-- grande, non-fat, light foam, sugar free cinnamon dolce latte
I think that about sums up the last three months.

12月20日 Happy Holidays2006 Holiday Message The holidays always bring with them a sense of home and family. This year that feeling was even more special because for the first time in years I am really home. I feel settled and comfortable and I am amazed at how happy I am. To kick off the season, my family and I went to Fort Edmonton Park. Nothing warms my heart with the spirit of the season like singing Christmas carols in an old church with the people I love. Highlights of 2006 There is always a sense of hope and renewal when a new year starts and 2006 was no exception. It was a good time to de-clutter; to change habits and get rid of things. I re-organized my house, donated a bunch of stuff and got rid of a few things in my life that just didn’t fit anymore. This allowed me to appreciate the absolutely amazing things in my life. In the Spring I took on new projects at work and this has ignited a renewed passion in me. I am working with student speakers; helping them to tell their unique stories. It is an extremely rewarding experience. I love to hear about where they have come from and how their lives have changed. Somewhere along the way, June 1st to be exact in case you forgot, I turned 27 this year. But I was so caught up in the excitement of play-off hockey I almost forgot to remind people. The Oilers run to the Stanley Cup final brought a lot of energy to the city and it was amazing to be a part of it. Summer kicked off with the usual trip out to the lake for May long weekend. In June, Andrea and I went to Victoria and Vancouver. We even struck a few “Canada’s Next Top Model” poses in front of the Empress Hotel. In July, I made an addition to my family. I adopted my cat, Snicklefritz. He brings much love and amusement to my life. It is funny how much he acts like me. He can’t handle missing out on any of the action and always needs to be the centre of attention. I also headed down to Calgary to take in the rodeo and do a little Stampeding with the Calgary crew. And in August Kerri and I went on a road trip to Montana and up through the interior of BC. It was great to get out and do some hiking and spend time with Kerri. We danced to reggae music with the hippies in Nelson and made a couple new friends, Nelly and Sal (giant toads we met at a random pond at one of our stops.) An exciting announcement was waiting for me when I got back from my trip. My close friend Jen and her boyfriend Brad got engaged and I was asked to be a bridesmaid. At the end of August I joined the gang for the annual Pembina camping trip. It was great to re-connect with so many people I hadn’t seen in years and to make some new friends. And for the 4th year in a row summer ended the second weekend in September in Wayne with the girls for Waynefest and the weather and music couldn’t have been better. Fall was busy with weddings, stagettes, birthdays and babies. Krysta and Marc got married in September and a couple weeks later Abby and James tied the knot. Karen and Lori both welcomed beautiful baby girls into the world… on the same day! And I attempted (not entirely disastrous) roller skating at my niece’s 10th birthday. I also got a chance to re-connect with old friends when my family and I went to Barb’s 50th birthday party in November. Actually this entire year has brought about a lot of re-connections. I met up with my old friend Annette, who I hadn’t seen in years, for coffee. We sat around and reminisced about the old days. And I started dating Jon, who I had worked with over 10 years ago at McDonalds! We may have gotten older but our friends would argue that we haven’t grown up at all… well… maybe a little. Whether it is having fork wars under the table, singing jingles at the hockey game or taking long walks in the snow we always find some amusing way to make each other laugh. Warm wishes for a season filled with joy, happiness and all the good stuff, Cherie “As long as we know in our hearts what Christmas ought to be, Christmas is.” - Eric Sevareid 9月20日 The Return to RexallPulling the soft blue mesh material over my head...feeling the excitement build... I toss my hair so that the curls tumble onto my shoulders... look in the mirror... do a little dance...smooth the material over the curves of my body... I bend over.... to tie my shoe.... and I am off to the hockey game!!
** Special shout-out to Erin for letting me borrow the following excerpt**
The BAD NEWS: Beer is now $7.50!!! Apparently, the $1 million the Oilers generated from each playoff home game was not enough to either sign some defense or keep the cost of beer from rising. I did notice they had spent the money redoing the concessions and the box seats though. It was hard to tell from my Gallery seats in Row 51 but I don't think all the rich people in the box seats really seemed to care about new paint or upholstery. They did seem to be enjoying the beer though. After all, they are the only ones who can afford it! The Good News: Some poor schmuck was there with his Pronger jersey on. He had made a few modifications though. He stuck duct (or should I say Duck) tape over the name on the back and had written: Boo Pronger. Once a great Oiler, now a mighty Dick. And so another season begins....
Lil Miss Smooth Operator 9月19日 I Should Have Stayed in BedEver have one of those days? A day when you should have just curled up under the covers, turned off the phone and went back to sleep when the alarm clock started screaming at you to get up.
Yesterday was that day for me. It wasn't a bad day. Nothing horrible happened. It just felt like I was a step behind most of the day. Always the one to jump into a conversation with a witty comment, yesterday I had nothing. I would start a sentence and decide halfway through that what I was saying wasn't that important and just stop speaking mid-word, making what I was saying even more convuluted then if I would have just finished the sentence that didn't make sense. Did that make sense?
I also went to yoga and somehow managed to bring two shirts but no pants.
Here's to a better day! And really.... it is a hockey day so it has got to be a good day! Go Oilers Go!!
